Youth Ministry

Young Adults

Do you want to hang out and grow in the faith with other like-minded Catholics?  Adults in their 20s and 30s are invited to join the Young Adult group at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Waynesboro. Events include attending Mass together, Adoration, and fellowship.  They also join other young adult groups from Gettysburg, Harrisburg and York.  Send a request to "Franklin County PA Young Adult Catholics" to join their Facebook group and see the upcoming events or contact them directly with the emails provided.  You can find a few helpful items on the diocese young adult ministry webpage, including a list of groups (with contact information), a calendar of group events, Theology on Tap events, and so on. https://www.hbgdiocese.org/clev/youth-and-young-adult/young-adult-ministry/#groups

There are three big diocesan events for young adults:

  1. Sept 13 (always the Sunday after Labor Day) is Get Connected, a mass and cookout for young adults to meet people and learn more about our groups.
  2. Dec 5 (always the Saturday after the start of Advent) is our Day of Reflection, which is a spiritual conference for young adults.
  3. May 28-30 (always Memorial Day weekend) is our Young Adult Retreat, which is a spiritual retreat for young adults that focuses on renewal and community.

Ruth's Harvest

Ruth's Harvest provides children on the free lunch program at the Fairfield Schools with a backpack of food for weekends during the school year.  St. Mary's parishioners support the program through a collection of non-refrigerated individual servings of kid friendly food on the second Sunday of the month several times during the school year.  Suggestions are plastic cups of fruit or vegetables, cookies, Jello/pudding, or peanut butter to go. For more information see Ruth's Harvest Fairfield on Facebook. Also, please refer to the Bulletin for current needs.

Volunteers are also needed occasionally to help pack backpacks.
